Rules for Photography Competition: ‘Treasures of Old Town’

This competition is open to UK residents only. It is not open to any person running the competition, or their immediate family members.

Each photograph must be located in Old Town, Swindon and you may include an optional description. Images should be no larger than 3MB.

Please submit your photographs as an attachment to your email and send them to:   friendsofoldtownlibrary@hotmail.co.uk

Please provide Friends of Old Town Library with your name, email, and postal address. Your personal details will only ever be used for the purposes of administering this competition and Friends of Old Town Library will not publish them or provide them to anyone without your permission.

If a winning entrant is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made to do so, Friends of Old Town Library reserves the right to select the next best entry.

You may submit a maximum of 2 photographs per person per month before the final closing date of the competition. For example, entries in August 2008 must be submitted by 31st August 2008. Your entry must be entirely your original work and not breach any copyright, nor defame anybody. If your entry includes depictions of people, please read Note A, below.

The closing dates for entries each month:
31st August 2008
30th September 2008
31st October 2008
30th November 2008.

By submitting your photograph to Friends of Old Town Library, you agree to grant Friends of Old Town Library free of charge, the right to publish and the right to licence others to publish the photograph online and in all media as required. You also agree to take part in any competition publicity, should you be requested to do so.

The Winners:
Each month’s winner(s)’ names and their photographs will be posted on this website within 15 working days. Winners’ entries will be automatically entered in the Grand Final. Three overall winners will be announced on this website before 31st December 2008.

The Prizes:

Winning entries each month will be published on our website and entered in the Grand Final. The three winners selected in the Grand Final will be awarded Certificates and the First Prize-Winner will be awarded a prize to the value of £50.

Note A:
Photographs of People:
If your entry features any recognisable person or people, written permission must be obtained from the individual(s) -- or their parents or guardians if under 16 years of age -- for the image to be entered in the competition and published online and in all media as required. Please confirm that you have left this written permission at Old Town Library, with the Library Assistants, together with details of your entry and your name and address.

Friends of Old Town Library reserves the right to disqualify any entry which breaches any of these rules.
